We have a proposal for you!

Learn Greek in Verbum:

  • Modern Greek

  • Ancient Greek

  • Private classes

  • Mini-groups on demand

Greek is one of the european languages, well known for its long history and cultural influence over the centuries. We consider it self-evident that greek words are used worldwide in terminology of various fields of knowledge, philosophy, linguistics, art, mathematics, medicine, law, physics, chemistry, architecture and so on.

The Modern Greek language is an obvious evolution of its ancient predecessor, passing through the byzantine era and receiving elements and transformation during the centuries.

Modern Greek has an alphabet and a grammatical structure that are interestingly different from those of the romance (latin-based) languages, such as spanish, french, italian, portuguese, and even english). However, it also shares a lot in common, being part and foundation of the so-called "western culture".

Together, we can work on understanding the culture that continuously forms the language and, of course, learn the language itself, with the most creative ways, using art, actual news, everyday communication until arriving to complex discussions. It all depends on your goals and desires. We plan your journey together and we guide you with our knowledge.

White Architecture

We can define your needs together and decide the way of working and the level of experience you want to acquire.

  • You may want to be competent in communicating basic practical and social needs.

  • You might want to practise your Greek in order to establish a working place in a local business.

  • Another possibility is that you want to get a Greek citizenship.

  • You can also provide your children with the support they need with the Greek language, if they are in the process of adapting to a Greek school.

Greek as a foreign language

In some cases, it might be useful for you to participate in official exams that will certificate your knowledge of Greek, based on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for languages).

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages defines the levels of language learning from A1 to C2 depending on the level of knowledge of the language, its ability to speak and communicate with it as follows:

BASIC LEVEL

A1 "introductory"

A2 "basic knowledge"

INDEPENDENCY LEVEL

B1 "intermediate knowledge"

B2 "good knowledge"

PROFICIENCY LEVEL

C1 "very good knowledge"

C2 "excellent knowledge"

About the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an international standard for describing language ability.

It describes language ability on a six-point scale, from A1 for beginners, up to C2 for those who have mastered a language.

This makes it easy for anyone involved in language teaching and testing, such as teachers or learners, to see the level of different qualifications. It also means that employers and educational institutions can easily compare our qualifications to other exams in their country.

It is one of my missions to guide you through the universal system of certification for the different levels.

If you already have some experience in a language, at first we find out your level with a method of an assessment test and then we decide on which level you need to start studying.
